Our Story

Da Pino Pizzeria e Cucina est 1993.

Da Pino translates in Italian to “At Pino’s Place” In Italian, we would say "andiamo da Pino '', let's go to Pino’s. With the idea of getting together and of course in true traditional Italian style, not leaving without something to eat and sharing a meal together. At Da Pino’s we encourage everyone to come and dine with us and enjoy a meal, as if they are a part of our extended family!

Da Pino Pizzeria was established in 1993 when my father Pino and mother Sara set their sights on Box Hill North to begin the process of bringing Italian home style meals and hospitality to the area. For many years mamma was the primary cook and you would see my brother Filippo and dad Pino making pizza out the front. What started as a small takeaway shop front for many years, has since expanded to a dining space comprising two cosy rooms. Going to Pino’s place has now become a tradition and second home for many of our locals.

As the eldest sibling and a very keen traveller, my trips to Italy have inspired me to take on what my father started, ignited by passion and inspiration from my European travels. My vision has been to bring to life the "old meets new" where we create dishes and an environment that is traditional, with a modern and sophisticated twist.

In 2019 we embarked on a new journey. One of rejuvenation and continuation of a family run local pizzeria and restaurant. A way of life as we have always known it to be. As first generation Italians born in Australia we are very fortunate to have two magnificent countries to draw inspiration from. We are proud that we can bring both worlds into one place.

Da Pino Pizzeria e Cucina is a local institution committed to turning out high quality food using only the best local and imported produce. Our motto, “simple is best” is reflected in every dish with the emphasis on providing the freshest ingredients to uncomplicated meals.

Vintage tiles, marble top tables and open style pizzeria all reflect the Sicilian charm and is something you would find along the magical streets of Italy. Our menu is a combination of street food and seasonal dishes, including a range of handmade pastas made fresh daily!
